據路透社等海外媒體報道，美國商務部部長羅斯在4月16日透露，因中國電信設備商中興通訊未履行和解協定中的部分協議，美國商務部將禁止美國企業向中興通訊銷售元器件，時間有可能長達7年。對此，中興作出了回應。
中興通訊微信公號4月17日以中英文發文對此作出回應，“中興通訊已獲悉美國商務部對公司激活拒絕令。公司正在全面評估此事件對公司可能產生的影響，與各方面積極溝通及應對”。
